Halotherapy FAQ

WHAT IS SALT/HALOTHERAPY?

Halotherapy, or salt therapy, is a natural treatment that takes place in salt rooms or caves, and involves breathing in micron-sized salt particles in the air. The Salt Cave is rich in negative ions, creating a microclimate.

HOW DOES SALT/HALOTHERAPY WORK?

A halo-generator pushes micron-sized salt particles through the air, which moves through the upper respiratory system and helps with inflammation when inhaled.

WHAT DO I DO DURING THE SALT/HALOTHERAPY SESSION?

In our Salt Cave you’ll be relaxing in zero-gravity chairs while the salt is moving through the air. Ambient, soft music will lull you into a state of relaxation and peace. We strongly encourage taking deep breaths throughout the service for the full anti-inflammatory effects of the salt.

HOW LONG ARE THE SALT/HALOTHERAPY SESSIONS?

Our Halotherapy sessions take place on the hour, every hour, and are 45 minutes long.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING THE SALT/HALOTHERAPY SESSION?

As the salt enters the upper respiratory system, coughing could occur. Snoring is also a common occurrence during the session.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR IN THE SALT/HALOTHERAPY SESSION?

There is no special attire for the salt cave. You’ll wear your regular clothes. Solid white socks are required to enter the cave. Blankets are also provided for your comfort, however, you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SALT/HALOTHERAPY?

Halotherapy has been shown to alleviate the symptoms of upper respiratory conditions, allergies, immune disorders, skin conditions, etc. For more information on the health benefits and for in-depth research, please visit the Salt Therapy Association’s website linked below.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO SALT/HALOTHERAPY?

Halotherapy sessions are 45 minutes long. For mild to moderate respiratory conditions, 10-12 sessions are recommended. For best results the sessions should be 4-5 times per week. One a week for maintenance.

WHY DO I NEED SOLID WHITE SOCKS?

Having solid white socks prevents any artificial dyes from degrading the salt bed. There are 18,000 pounds of Himalayan Salt from floor-to-ceiling inside the cave.
